Roles
In my voluntary, campaigning and professional capacities I play the following main roles:
- Contribute to the development of standards for accessible information and seek to ensure compatibility between standards adopted by different bodies in different fields;
- Provide an intelligence service, monitoring developments in diverse domains, sourcing background research, advising on international practice;
- Clarify, particularly for healthcare delivery systems (including strategic managers in the NHS), the implications of the newly adopted Accessible Information Standard and advise on how to implement it in practice;
- Represent the patient point of view: I was acknowledged as a Patient Leader in the Health Service Journal inaugural awards 2015;
- Maintain an interest in my academic discipline of health informatics, eg as an external examiner at the University of Central Lancashire.
